What is WeTeach_CS?
WeTeach_CS is a multifaceted initiative designed to increase the number of certified computer science teachers in Texas and to continue improving CS educaiton by providing teachers with ongoing professional development, resources, and community
The centerpiece of the program, WeTeach_CS Certification Prep, is designed to increase the number of CS certified teachers in Texas through preparation and incentive. Online and face-to-face certification prep courses are designed to improve candidates competencies for the 141 TExES Computer Science 8-12 Certification Exam. These courses are further enhanced by an incentive program which rewards teachers who take the exam and obtain their Computer Science 8-12 certification with a $1000 stipend.

WeTeach_CS Certification Prep
Face-to-Face Training
WeTeach_CS Face-to-Face is an intensive two day course designed to provide an overview of the educator competencies required of all teachers to become certified in Grades 8-12 Computer Science. This certification is necessary to teach courses such as Computer Science I, II or III, Fundamentals of Computer Science, or AP Computer Science A. Course instructors will address several competencies in depth and link attendees to additional resources that will help to prepare them to challenge the CS certification test.

Online Course
WeTeach_CS Certification Prep is a comprehensive, six-week program that prepares teachers to take and pass the CS certification exam. It reviews all the main concepts covered in the three certification domains: Software Design and Development, Programming Language topics, and Technology Applications. Educators with at least some prior experience in coding or programming interested in becoming certified to teach Grades 8-12 Computer Science are eligible to attend.

WeTeach_CS 8-12 Certification Incentive Program
In addition to providing a free online certification prep course to Texas educators, WeTeach_CS adds further incentive for those seeking their 8-12 Computer Science Teacher Certification. Through the support of 100Kin10 and TEA, the CIP provides the opportunity for Texas educators to apply for a $1,000 stipend awarded by the TRC for successfully attaining their certification goal.

- Stipends are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while funding lasts.
