Energy and Momentum Across the Physics Curriculum

Addressing the Physics TEKS 6 A-D

Many physics students have difficulty with the quantitative use of energy and momentum to solve realistic problems. It’s not that they don’t get the idea of kinetic energy, but many (if not most) do not develop a deep enough understanding to apply what they know to solving problems. Via powerpoint presentation, Dr. Tom Hsu and Dr. Manos Chaniotakis address effective, technology-based techniques for learning energy, power and momentum applied across the physics curriculum, with specific focus on Physics TEKS 6 A-D. There will be 8 physics modules. Each module translates roughly to a 2-3 hour workshop covering TEKS and STARR content appropriate for delivery to high school teachers.

Materials also include engineering, technology, and math teaching tools (STEM) that are specifically designed to allow the physics teacher to meet the TEKS and prepare students for the STARR assessments on these areas while teaching excellent physics.
