Texas teachers interested in teaching courses related to the Computer Science Pathway.



TCEATRC is excited to partner with TCEA to offer a two-day Computer Science Academy in Austin July 24-25. The purpose of the Academy is to provide both new and veteran Computer Science teachers with professional learning opportunities that will result in more students being able to take Computer Science courses in high school.

The Academy will be held at TCEA’s new Conference Center, featuring a large meeting room and five breakout rooms, all equipped with the latest in presentation technology and high-speed wireless access. Experienced Computer Science teachers will work with the attendees to ensure the highest quality of learning. Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops for a hands-on workshop experience.

The Academy will feature a strand for new Computer Science teachers on the first day, where they will discover available textbooks, syllabi, units of study to cover, classroom management, logistics and grading, what programming language to start with, and how to stay ahead of the students. Veteran CS teachers will have the chance to learn about resources for mobile applications development, robotics programming and design, AP Java, how to win at UIL contests, and much more.


Certificates of Participation

Certificates will be provided by TCEA.





No hotel block arrangements have been made by the TRC for this event. Please make reservations at an area hotel of your choice, asking for state rate.

Please print and provide a copy of the Texas Hotel Occupancy Tax Exemption Certificate (linked below) to the hotel staff when you check in. You will not be reimbursed for state tax.

The TRC will reimburse you for your travel to the training and hotel at state rate following the event.



Parking is available onsite.



The cost of registration is $90 per participant for TCEA members and $130 for non-members. Registration fees cover lunch for both days.
