From the South: IH 35 North to Highway 71 East. Exit Airport Cargo Exit. Turn right at Spirit of Texas Drive/Terminal Drive and left at Hotel Drive.

Eligible Attendees:
Project Directors and Instructional Team Members for the Texas Regional Science or Mathematics Collaboratives. Physics Professors who work at Institutions of Higher Education that teach high-level math or physics to in-service teachers and pre-service teachers are also encouraged to register.
Description
Participants will have the opportunity to choose from a selection of one and two-hour workshop presentations intended to address both statewide deficiencies and local needs.
Sessions will include, the following Physics TEKS:
- 6A Investigate and calculate quantities using the work-energy theorem in various situations.
- 6B Investigate examples of kinetic and potential energy and their transformations.
- 6C Calculate the mechanical energy of, power generated within, impulse applied to, and momentum of a physical system.
- 6D Demonstrate and apply the laws of conservation of energy and conservation of momentum in one dimension.
Some breakout sessions will be led by vendors whose equipment and materials may be in classrooms in your local schools so come prepared to attend sessions that will address maximizing the use of currently available items. The overall goal of this two-day mini-conference is the presentation of activities to teach challenging Physics concepts, especially through the use of equipment and materials specifically listed in the Physics TEKS.

Certificates of Participation
Certificates stating 12 Continuing Professional Education hours (CPE credits) earned will be sent electronically after the participant has completed the online course evaluation. Participants should receive the certificate two to three weeks after the PDA. Any questions about certificates should be directed toward the contact person listed on this page.

Accommodations
Sleeping rooms are available at the workshop site on a first come, first serve basis at the state rate. Contact the hotel directly by phone to make a reservation. Reservations MUST be made at least one month in advance to ensure a space at the hosting hotel. Please tell the reservationist that you are with the TRC for this training when making your reservation to get the group rate.
Parking
The TRC will cover the parking at the hotel.
Registration
The cost is $45.00 per day per participant. Registration fees cover breakfast, lunch and training materials. Payments are due before this event. Refunds will not be issued for cancellations or those not in attendance.
For this 2-day workshop, total registration fees are $90.00 per person.
Registration Payment
The registration confirmation email will contain all necessary information to provide to business offices for credit card payment records and check processing instructions.
Participants MUST pay by credit card or mail a check. Checks for registration need to be made out to "The University of Texas at Austin." Please mail to the attention of Jeff Early along with the printed registration confirmation email.
Transportation expenses will be reimbursed. Reimbursement forms will be provided electronically after the PDA. All participants are responsible for their own lodging reservations and payments.
