Administrators interested in attending with teachers are encouraged to come on August 5 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. for an overview of the program. Administrator attendance for the morning of August 5 is complementary. Teachers must attend as a team. Participating schools should be interested in collecting longitudinal data about the impact of Geometry in Construction on students.

Description

Geometry in Construction (GiC) is a high school program begun in 2005 in Loveland, CO that integrates contextualized learning into both geometry and construction science classes that are taken simultaneously by high school students. Geometry and Construction Technology teachers work collaboratively to integrate their curricula and instruction throughout the year. This week-long professional development will provide teachers with all the instructional materials they need to replicate the GiC program in Texas schools. Presenters will be Scott Burke and Tom Moore, instructors of the original GiC program. Further details can be found at www.geometryinconstruction.org

Certificates stating 30 Continuing Professional Education hours (CPE credits) earned will be sent electronically after the participant has completed the online course evaluation.
